Are you interested in what options are available for straightening your teeth? At Dental Health, we have dentists as part of our team who have had special training and certification to properly practice orthodontic treatment. They are also members of the American Orthodontic Society.
Our general dentists offer orthodontics at these Dental Health offices:
At our Denver Tech Center location (303-779-8587), Dr. David Richter offers Invisalign® and Damon Braces and Damon Clear.
In Longmont (303-678-1125), Dr. Howell offers Invisalign® and conventional braces.
Invisalign® is a clear alternative to conventional braces. For your convenience, we also have highly qualified orthodontists outside our practice that we can recommend in case one of our dentists trained in orthodontic treatment is not in your area.
Children
Orthodontic treatment often begins between ages 8 and 14 but is not limited to those ages. Children should have an evaluation by the age of 7 to determine if orthodontics could be beneficial. By that age the child will have a mix of primary and permanent teeth. We can assess areas of concern with emerging teeth and jaw growth in the early stages of development, while primary teeth are present and easier to move around.
Adults
Adults such as crooked or crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, incorrect jaw position, or jaw-joint disorders can also benefit from orthodontics. Orthodontia in adults typically takes longer because adult bone is harder. No matter your age, it’s never too late to improve your dental health and beautify your smile.
Effects on Health
According to the American Dental Association, straightening your teeth can significantly affect your overall dental health. Crowding or crooked teeth puts you at risk for poor oral health. When teeth are spaced too far apart or too close together, bacteria have more places to hide. The presence of bacteria can lead to plaque build-up and gingivitis, a condition which often leads to gum disease.
Invisalign®
In the past, the person who desired a straighter, healthier smile had only one option– traditional metal braces. Invisalign® is what is considered “invisible braces.” It is a way to align teeth and to improve smiles by getting teeth into their proper positions, and is done with a series of trays that a person wears. With Invisalign, the aligner trays are not only smooth and comfortable to wear, but they’re also removable. That means you can continue doing all the things you normally would, from brushing and flossing, to eating whatever you like.
Special occasion coming up? No problem – just take your aligners out for that time and pop them back in when you’re ready. Of course, even when you’re wearing them, most people won’t even know you’re going through treatment, because they are virtually invisible. Invisalign is also ideal for your busy schedule, with fewer doctor visits required (approximately every six weeks).
